Accelerated Reader

WE ARE PROUD TO INTRODUCE AR ENTERPRISE!

We have a GREAT new product (thanks to PTO) that we know all of you are going to LOVE!! It’s Accelerated Reader, but better! It’s called AR Enterprise:

AR Enterprise is a program that gives us access to all of the AR tests. That means your child will have access to over 100,000,000 AR tests. It will be much easier selecting books at the public library or buying books at the book fair because just about every book has an AR test!!

The next great component of AR Enterprise is called Home Connect. This feature allows you to check the progress of your child at home! You can see what AR tests they have taken, the score and dates. It will show you in detail their goal and how close they are to making it. You can even add your e-mail address and receive information through e-mail regarding your child’s AR progress.

AR guidelines:
Students who can read at least 100 sight words are given the STAR Reading Assessment 3 times per year to determine their individual reading levels.

Based on their reading levels and on the amount of time they should be reading, students are assigned individual reading goals.

In order to participate in the celebrations, students must meet their individual point goals and maintain a minimum average percent correct of 80 in kindergarten - second grades, 80 for special education and EIP students and 85 in grades 3-5.

If more than two tests are taken per day, they will be dropped from the students’ records.

Reading logs must be completely filled out before an AR test is taken.

Parents are welcome to come before school from 7:35-7:45 and after school from 2:35-2:50 to help their child select books on the appropriate level. No testing will be allowed after 2:30.

We ask that students with a reading level of 2.0 or higher read the tests on their own with no assistance from parents. For students with a reading level below 2.0, tests may be read orally with
no coaching allowed.
