The goals and objectives for the Tyrone Elementary Media Center are:
To offer full accessibility to all students and staff throughout
the school day to the materials and services of the media center
through flexible scheduling
To encourage correlation of classroom activities and media services
through teacher/media specialist collaboration and planning
To provide the materials that will support the curriculum and
will meet the varied needs, abilities, and interests of the patrons
served
To provide materials which will extend knowledge, experience,
and literary appreciation
To help patrons develop habits of inquiry and encourage competency
in the use of available resources and to attempt to locate within
the system, any requested materials not permanently housed in
the media center at Tyrone Elementary
To encourage the widest use of all books, resources, and services
by students and staff
To teach appropriate media competencies through the use of various
methods and techniques enabling students to become proficient
and discriminating users of print and non-print materials
To evaluate resources and programs in order to continue to serve
patrons effectively
To encourage students to develop a love of reading by exposing
them to a variety of children’s books and literature that
reflect their interest, culture, and reading levels
